President Trump faced widespread condemnation for reportedly referring to Haiti and African nations as "shithole countries" during an immigration meeting with senators Thursday. Trump denied the reports, but Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin (Ill.), who was at the meeting, said he "personally heard" the "hate-filled, vile, and racist" comments. Republican Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.) said he spoke to his fellow South Carolina senator, Lindsey Graham, who was also in the room and told him the reports were "basically accurate." Trump's comments also derailed important immigration talks, with the Congressional Black Caucus' chairman, Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.), claiming the remarks are "further proof that his Make America Great Again agenda is really a Make America White Again agenda."
