President Trump on Tuesday defended his administration's "zero tolerance" immigration policy against growing outrage over the separation of nearly 2,000 migrant children from their parents. Trump once again falsely claimed that Democrats were responsible for the policy that he says he opposes, while still declaring harsh border control to be necessary for U.S. security and sovereignty. "When you prosecute the parents for coming in illegally, which should happen, you have to take the children away," he said. "People that come in violate the law, they endanger their children in the process, and frankly, they endanger all of our children." Trump has received bipartisan pressure to halt the separations using executive action.
