The world's newest Aman Resort is a monument to conservation, said Claire Wrathall at the Financial Times. Though the complex has the look of a centuries-old forested village, its thousands of ancient camphor trees and dozens of Ming and Qing dynasty buildings sat 435 miles away in Jiangxi province until they were recently relocated to escape destruction owing to the construction of a new dam.

The resort's 24 suites and 13 villas all have modern furnishings, but guests can learn about ancient arts, including Chinese calligraphy, at an on-site cultural center.
