CNN's Chris Cuomo, who is known for his frequent explosive interviews with Trump administration officials, will reportedly be moving to the network's 9 p.m. spot to directly compete against MSNBC's Rachel Maddow and Fox News' Sean Hannity, The New York Times reports based on conversations with insiders.

While CNN declined to comment or make a formal announcement just yet, Cuomo's promotion would have his New Day co-anchor, Alisyn Camerota, looking for a new partner and reduce Anderson Cooper's two-hour prime-time show, which runs from 8 to 10 p.m., to a single hour. The move comes as CNN has struggled to keep up with its competitors in the evening, with Cooper averaging just over a million viewers in February, while Maddow and Hannity drew around 3 million.

Cuomo, 47, joined CNN in 2013. He formerly hosted Good Morning America and 20/20 at ABC.
