Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupts after days of earthquakes

Following several days of earthquakes, the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii's Big Island began to spew ash and released lava into a residential neighborhood Thursday evening.

Hawaii County spokeswoman Janet Snyder said mandatory evacuations are underway in the area, affecting about 10,000 people. On Thursday morning, a magnitude 5.0 quake centered south of the Puu Oo crater rattled the Big Island.
